Nursery

The nursery stage of culture occurs in temperature controlled tanks.  PL prawns are cultured in nursery tanks for 30 - 60 days.  During the nursery stage prawns grow at 150% of their body weight per week, an incredible growth rate.  The nursery stage ends with production of a juvenile prawn ready to stock into ponds.  Ponds should be stocked with juvenile prawns weighing between 0.3 - 0.6 g.
